The story resemblances to the story of 80's where two lovers are born to the families that can’t stand one another. The story has a political backdrop. The story is set in a small town Almor in north India. Director Habib Faisal has come with a vibrant love story with two new comers Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor. The expectation from the film has been sky-high. Two charming new comer paired opposite one another in a love story is what allures one and all.
The Qureshis and the Chauhans are two poles apart. They fight on political ground and wished to gain supremacy in their constituency at the cost of bloodshed. Local gundas, pistols, bikes, bad mouth are what rules in ‘Ishaqzaade’.
Parmar Chauhan (Arjun Kapoor) and Zoya Qureshi (Parineeti Chopra) are the main protagonist. They are from different religion and this becomes another issue of rivalry. They were raised to hate each other but circumstances gradually changes as they grew up and they developed love for one another. Parmar wants to prove that he is his grandfather’s grandson. Zoya too moves with political ambition. How love can blossom in the two families that keeps each other at gun-point forms the basis of the story. Will their family forget their age old rivalry and accept their love. Will the villagers will allow them to live peacefully due to different religion forms the rest of the story.
After his entertaining debut film ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ about a middle class family, Habib Faisal has recreated the same old love story in a totally refreshing way. The story keeps going and there is no any dull point in the film. The film is engaging.
The performances of the stars are highly praised. Gauhar Khan as in the role of Chand Baby deserves applause. The main attraction is the performance of the two new kids on the block Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. Arjun as rowdy guy lives up to the expectation of the audience. He lives up to the character. Parineet Chopra is also incredible.
North India has been beautifully captured by cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi. Background score by Ranjit Barot is sprightly. Amit Amit Trivedi’s musical score is alluring.
In the nutshell, ‘Ishaqzaade’ is a power packed entertainer. Arjun and Parineet’s reel life chemistry rocks. The film cannot be rated top-notch but not a bad watch.
